用户总结: Good Case, Bad Holster
用户评语: I've been using this case for 8 months now. As a clumsy guy, I originally fell in love with this case because I could clip it to my belt or pocket, and if I accidentally dropped the phone while adding or removing it from the holster, it was still protected.
The first immediate issue with the were the bubbles under the screen protector. The iPhone still responded ok to my touch, but it was unsightly. I applied a cheap anti-glare film to the screen and put the phone back in its case. The cheap film dulled the display, and I still had the bubbles. After doing some research online, I sprayed some Goo Gone on the outside edges of the screen protector and let it sit for a few minutes. This loosed the adhesive and the clear plastic came right off. I purchased a Power Support Crystal film screen protector from my local Apple store and applied it to protect the screen. The crystal film doesn't dull the display at all, and has protected the screen all this time.
The next issue was that only the OEM iPhone connector cable works through this case. Forget about docking your iPhone unless you want to take it out of the case all the time. I like carrying around retractable cables in my backpack, and I had to modify one (cut away some of the plastic) to get it to work with the case.
The case does a good job of protecting my phone and it is a good thing because it is always falling out of the holster. The holster really needs some sort of clip on top. I've lost count how many times the phone has fallen out on the pavement as I was getting in or out of my car. Once I lost it in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Thankfully, no one had swiped it before I retraced my steps and found it again. I became obsessed checking if my phone is still in the holster. I've started putting slipping the phone in my pocket and clipping the holster to the outside. Unfortunately, this has caused the rubber on the back of the case to stretch out. I'm also afraid one of these days, I'm going to bend over and break my iPhone in half or loose change or car keys will ruin the screen after it pops out of the holster in my pocket...which it still does.
With my previous phones, I've had no issues with the cheap cases and holsters I've purchased from a certain popular online auction site. I am so disappointed I paid a relative fortune for this case, had to remove the built-in screen protector, buy a replacement screen protector, hack a cable, and am constantly worrying I'm going to lose my phone because of the bad design of the holster. Clearly, I did not get my money's worth.

用户评语: The "jacket" that encases the phone provides great protection to the phone; however, the belt holder for the phone is worthless. The phone will not stay in the holder with the obvious result of a lost phone. Additionally,the spring tensioner on the belt clip looses it's "spring" resulting in a belt clip that does not hold onto the belt. This is the second Otter case I have purchased (the first for a Blackberry which was slightly more functional)and both have had the same problem. If you are looking for protection for the phone itself, buy one. Otherwise, the holder is a very poor design and obviously not tested under actual use.

用户评语: Recommended at store after I bought a new phone because of damaging drop. Cool, or so I thought. The inner case is good--screen had some condensation/moisture after a bit, but wasn't too bad and did not impair operation. Rubber case is great--felt very secure, however, the holster does not hold the phone--which is the main thing I was looking for. I have an active job and run around a lot and need my phone often at various sites, but like a holster for easy access. The phone fell off in the truck, walking down the street in big crowd, at the beach, in my office, in a restaurant and everywhere else. The phone worked great still, but I figured one time I would reach for it and it would be gone for good--and this was during the first month of use. Not a good sign--especially at the price of the phone and the case&holster. This time I did not get what I paid for, which rates very low, for me.

用户评语: This case was a complete letdown. I had high hopes for the case since it was important for me to keep the headphone and docking ports covered and safe from moisture (since Apple did not design the phone so well in these areas and their water damage policy is hateful)! The case is awfully clunky which on the bright side makes it able to handle drops and bangs should you need that much protection. The downside of the case is that the port covers do not stay in place and you will often find yourself fiddling with them to get them back in place. The worst part of the case is the screen film. This built in film makes it difficult to see your screen and will form an oily slick mess between your iPhone screen and film. This is the good part... Otterbox's remedies for this are as follows (i visited their website for a fix where they acknowledge the defect!) First fix was to rub the oils from your hand all over your iPhone screen and then place it in the case. This made an oily mess even more of an oily mess! Their second fix, if the crud from your hands did not work, was to rub the oils from your cheek on it! This sounded wrong but I figured give it a chance... GROSS. You will now have an oily, cloudy, greasy mess between the film and screen. I finally emailed them and told them their fixes do not work and to ask what they recommend before I give up on the case. They told me to get 10 oz of water and a drop of liquid laundry detergent and mix it up. Then take only a tiny amount and wipe all over the face of the phone before placing it in the case.... YEAH RIGHT... the case has been shipped back to Amazon and I have been refunded. The customer service person that emailed me also stated that they acknowledge the defect and are working on a solution in future models! Unless you plan on taking your phone mountain climbing, skateboarding or leaving it around the construction site, you do not need this case and would hate it anyway. Also, a coworker of mind did not heed my warning about this case... in less than a month of owning, her headphone port cover has torn off (not surprised) and she has cut the screen out and replaced with a static screen protector from the Apple store!

用户总结: Oil Slick Renders This Product Unacceptable
用户评语: Being a huge fan of Otterbox products, I plunked down my money for the Defender immediately after purchasing my 3GS. I was very disappointed when this product didn't live up to my previous experiences with Otterbox products.
There are some flaws with the current model of this case. They are:
1) "Oil slick" that develops between phone screen and screen protector. Otterbox is aware of the problem, but they have no solution listed on their website. My own personal work around involved installing a screen protector, then putting that inside the case. Unfortunately, the touch screen sensitivity is greatly reduced when you do this.
2) Edges of case around the screen are so elevated that I can't get my thumbs into the case enough to type on the lower row of keys.
3) The outer silicone skin is a pocket lint magnet.
Otter has a lifetime guarantee so I'll be hanging on to my receipt and watching their website so I can return this case for the next version that does not oil slick.
